Inscribed and signed by the author to his daughter-in-law, "Lesley / with love from / Blue / 6. v. 48." Octavo. xii, 211 pages. Publisher's original blue cloth over boards, spine lettered in white; spine moderately sunned with some scuffs and rubs to boards. Cream colored endpapers, all edges trimmed; bookseller's unobtrusive pencil annotations to front pastedown. Internally clean; text block slightly toned, thumb soiling to first few leaves. Inscribed and signed in blue ink to front free endpaper recto. Milne's only mystery novel and a Haycraft Queen Cornerstone of mystery fiction. A copy signed and inscribed by the author as "Blue," the family's nickname for A. A. Milne, to his future daughter-in-law on her birthday. Lesley de Sélincourt and Christopher Robin Milne wed just a few short months after this book was gifted to her by her future father-in-law.
