Collation: Fold out Gregorian calendar in columns with woodcut vignettes and engraved title at front and rear of book; Title page; 16pp; 32pp. Illustrated with 12 fine copper engravings. On the verso of the back board is a piece of glass which has been inserted. We are surmising that is was used to slip in a picture of a loved one. Bound in full leather with tooled design. The end papers are Dutch Floral papers printed in gold and pink ink. All edges are gilt. There is a green silk pocket bound in the front cover to slip bits of paper in. The almanac/ diary in the middle has not been used. The text block is loose form the binding; the fold out is a little worn along the edges with creases and tiny tears minor foxing throughout, the binding is a worn. The edges of text also a little worn. Otherwise a very acceptable copy of an extremely rare book. Interesting to see that a copy can be found in the Louvre collection that belonged to Edmond de Rothchild. Size 13 x 8.5cm (4 x 3 inches. The dates of the French Revolution are 1789-1799, this being published just before. Jubert, bookbinder and gilder, was a path-breaking almanac publisher. His son-in-law, Pierre-Etienne Janet, took over the business in 1790 and continued in his father-in-law s business, producing almanacs illustrated with 12 fine copper engravings with a calendar etc. By this collection I have purchased, you could purchase different themed almanacs each year.
