Item Description: Published by Lincoln & Smith Press [for] Marine Committee, Massachusetts Bay Colony Tercentenary Commission,, (Boston):, 1930. First edition.. [NAUTICAL HISTORY: MASSACHUSETTS]. (MORISON, Samuel Eliot). MASSACHUSETTS ON THE SEA 1630 - 1930. ["Written for the Tercentenary Marine Committee by George Caspar Homans and Samuel Eliot Morison": so stated on dust jacket only]. Quarto, white cloth spine, printed blue paper-covered boards, pp. [vi], 32, illustrated (with full-page black-and-white plates). The title page does not list the co-authors, Samuel Eliot Morison and George Caspar Homans, as authors of the entire text, but the front panel of the dust jacket prominately states: "Written for Tercentenary Marine Committee by George Caspar Homans and Samuel Eliot Morison." Morison also served on the Tercentenary Marine Committee. White cloth spine is quite foxed, top edge is a bit dust soiled, else a very good copy in dust jacket; cream-colored jacket is tanned, with few small brown soil marks, light wear and fading on spine and extremities, three small chips on front panel, rear panel is moderately foxed, with small chip at top edge, else very good. Laid into the book is a "Program of Marine Events of Massachusetts, Summer, 1930" [4to, printed wrappers, 6 pages, stapled; staples are a bit rusted, else near fine]; an elusive title in dust jacket.
