Small narrow brown stain in inner margin and about 2" along top for title pages and first few pages.

Some page corners are creased. Prev owner's signature on the half-title page.End-papers heavily foxed. Rear hinge is slackening. Blue cloth boards with a tear by the spine head and foot. Titles embossed on gilt-coloured (but rubbed and faded) section running across the front board and the spine. The lower corner of the front board has been heavily bumped. From the undated author's Preface, the book 'gives to the trade a permanent record of The Practical Baker, a comprehensive treatise on bread-making, which ran through The British Baker in serial form. Includes a picture of one of the bakeries on the Queen Mary. Scarce. Size: 8vo.
