Hardcover no dust jacket. Publishers pictorial binding with titles in black and gilt to spine and front board along with illustrated Magician. Binding in good+ condition with a little shelf wear to top & tail of spine, bumping to tips of boards, a little rubbing to edges and a little rubbing to gilt work on front board. Inside hand written library card for the Girl Guides to front pastedown, with all pages in lovely clean and bright condition although the book is slightly cocked. A nice copy of this work that stressed the importance of the art in magic and to redefine how the performance of magic was perceived. Although the book was not successful with general audiences it remains a key text for magicians, "Beyond doubt, the most important conjuring book ever written." A very nice copy of a scarce first edition.
