Illustrated cloth boards are tight and square, clean, no spotting or scratches, very nice indeed, with light rubbing to tips. Interior clean and unmarked, pages crisp, no foxing, no creases, no smudging, no handling marks. Light toning to edge of pages. The paper pages are rather heavy (much thicker and heavier than the second printing), and the color quality excellent. Dust jacket has some chipping top and bottom of spine and top folds, a little more edge wear here and there, but very attractive, at least Very Good, strong and crisp. Original $1.75 price, correct for a first, intact on flap, and no medal sticker to the jacket. A beloved classic, with a message that still resonates over 80 years later. Please see photos. 1st UK Edition, 24.2 x 23 cm olive green cloth with brown stamped titles and vignette to the front cover and titles to the spine. Pictorial endpapers, 40pp with colour illustrations on every page Lacking the dust jacket but in lovely condition considering its age. There is a touch of fading to the spine and bottom edge and a hint of rubbing and a little pushing to the corners. Internally there is a 1cm split to the endpapers at the bottom of the front joint but the binding is firm. There is a a very little light spotting mostly confined to the endpapers.
