The focus of this work is the culture, traditions, social structures, religion, and adaptations of these peoples over time. The Austrian priest and ethnologist Martin Gusinde (29 October 1886, in Breslau - 18 October 1969, in Mödling, Austria) was a renowned ethnographer and anthropologist who conducted extensive research on indigenous peoples. During the mid-1930s, he studied the Pygmies in the Congo.
