Hardback. Condition: Good Only. None (illustrator). First edition. The complete set of this historical novel from Sir Walter Scott. First edition. Each volume features its original half title, and is bound in its original publishers' bindings. Kenilworth is a novel of selfishness versus selflessness and ambition versus love. The title refers to Dudley's Kenilworth Castle in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. The novel opens, however, at Cumnor Place, near Abingdon in Berkshire. Much of the novel gives a fair depiction of the Elizabethan court, involving representations of historical figures such as Mary Queen of Scots, William Shakespeare, and the Earl of Essex, Sir Christopher Blount. Complete in three volumes. In original publishers bindings. Externally, all volumes are a trifle rubbed, with wear and loss to the spines.Backstrips are lifting in places. Two front, and three rear hinges are slightly strained. Internally, all volumes are generally firmly bound, and bright throughout. Light spotting to the text block edge, with some light marginal foxing to volume one. Good Only. book.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. This is a first edition 1821 copy of Kenilworth; A Romance - by the author of "Waverley," "Ivanhoe," &c., aka Sir Walter Scott. The story is told across three volumes, and each volume is in various ranges of very good condition in a navy blue and gilt cover. The books also have marbled edges and very light and sporadic spotting. There is one oddity in the collection however, as though all three books have the same style of cover and colors, the spine of volume 3 does not match the spine of the other two volumes (see pictures once uploaded). In terms of condition: Volume 1 is in good/very good condition with some chipping on the top of the spine and discoloration and wear on the hinges and corners; Volume 2 is in very good condition with the same hinge and corner condition, but less chipping on the spine; and volume 3 is in very good condition with even less wear.
