Aus der ungeheuren Datenflut erstellen sie handhabbare Empfangsformate zum Konsum der Informationen, wie z.B. Zeitungsartikel, Rundfunk- oderFernsehbeiträge, die unsere Vorstellungen über das Weltgeschehen prägen. Aber was passiert, wenn die Annahmen über diese Medienrealität auf Irrtümern, Fehleinschätzungen oder Vorurteilenberuhen Die Analyse der Einflüsse der Medienmärkte auf die journalistische Arbeit und deren Ergebnisse führt zur Diskussion über die Rolle der PR. Medien sind in erster Linie ein Geschäft, deren Eigentümer, z.B. Verlage oder Sender, nicht nur Kostendeckung sondern auch Gewinnziele verfolgen. Auf diesen Märkten geht es umviel Geld und schließlich den Wettbewerb um Anzeigen- und Abnehmerpotentiale. Obwohl Wettbewerb im Allgemeinen sinnvoll und für den Verbraucher positiv ist, entsteht die Frage nach dem Nutzen für die öffentliche Information, wenn Produktwerbung aufgrund von zusätzlichen Einnahmen, höherer Reichweite oder besserer Quote die sinnvolle Information verdrängt. Dieser Wettbewerb prägt damit das journalistische Geschehen in allen Medien und die Journalisten sehen sich durch Sparmaßnahmen oder Konkurrenz durch neue Medien zunehmendmit ökonomischen Zwängen konfrontiert. In der Folge können journalistische Ansprüche aufgeweicht werden und zu einer stärkeren Beeinflussbarkeit durch Öffentlichkeitsarbeit führen.Mit dieser Arbeit soll untersucht werden, ob und vor allem inwieweit Journalisten durch Vertreter der PR in ihrer Arbeit beeinflusst werden und sich beeinflussen lassen. Dazu werden Lehrmeinungen und empirische Studien aus Fachjournalen analysiert. Kern der Arbeit ist eine Befragung von Journalisten und PR-Praktikern, um eine praxisnahe Darstellung zu entwerfen. Dabei stellt sich nicht nur die Frage nach der Beeinflussung durch PR selbst, sondern auch nach der Art des Verhältnisses zwischen Journalismus und PR, nach speziellen Strategien zur Einflussnahme und anderen Einflüssen auf den Journalismus. 72 pp. Deutsch.
