Harry Potter is a series of many genres, including fantasy, bildungsroman, and the British school story (which includes elements of mystery, thriller, adventure, and romance). That is until an owl turns up with a letter addressed to Harry and all hell breaks loose! He is literally rescued by a world where nothing is as it seems and magic lessons are the order of the day. Read and find out how Harry discovers his true heritage at Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, the reason behind his parents mysterious death, who is out to kill him, and how he uncovers the most amazing secret of all time, the fabled Philosopher's Stone! All this and muggles too. Now, what are they? This is Jo's first book and she has already written seven outlines for Harry's further adventures at Hogwarts. Seller Inventory # 10500

About this Item: Bloomsbury 1999-2007, London, 1999. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. The first printings of the deluxe editions of the (at the time) full Harry Potter series. Clothbound with pictorial onlays, all edges gilt; fine without dust jackets, as issued. The Azkaban, which was the first volume published in a British deluxe edition (Philosopher's Stone and Chamber being issued in a deluxe edition retroactively) had the smallest printing, (reportedly 7000 copies) and names "Joanne Rowling" rather than "J.K. Rowling" on the copyright page. Here together with the collector's edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard [London: Children's High Level Group, 2008]. The leatherbound Beedle is in a drawstring bag, which, with ten illustrations by Rowling, are housed together in a large box made to look like a textbook, which is contained in the publisher's sleeve. Also included is the Sotheby's catalog for the auction of one of seven copies of the manuscript of Beedle the Bard, with an introduction by Rowling. Since the time of the last deluxe edition's release, the Harry Potter franchise has expanded with the completion of the 8-film series (with an additional three-movie prequel having debuted in 2016); original Rowling content on the Pottermore website; two Wizarding World theme parks; and a two-part stage play sequel (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), which premiered in London, the script of which was released as the eighth book in the series. About this Item: Bloomsbury, London, 2003. First edition of the fifth novel in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter Series. Octavo, original illustrated boards. Signed by J.K. Rowling on the half title page. Fine in a near fine dust jacket with a touch of wear. Jacket illustration by Jason Cockcroft. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, more than any of the four previous novels in the series, is a coming-of-age story. Harry faces the thorny transition into adulthood, when adult heroes are revealed to be fallible, and matters that seemed black-and-white suddenly come out in shades of gray. Gone is the wide-eyed innocent, the whiz kid of Sorcerer's Stone. Here we have an adolescent who's sometimes sullen, often confused, and always self-questioning. Confronting death again, as well as a startling prophecy, Harry ends his year at Hogwarts exhausted and pensive. "The Order of the Phoenix starts slow, gathers speed and then skateboards, with somersaults, to its furious conclusion. As Harry gets older, Rowling gets better." (John Leonard, The New York Times). It was made into the 2007 film directed by David Yates, starring Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry Potter Complete Seven Volume Set of: Rowling, J.K.

About this Item: Arthur A. Levine Books / Scholastic Press, 1998. Hard Cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. First American editions of each volume. Volume 1 is a first printing, includes the first state jacket without 'Year 1' on the spine, and has the Guardian quote on the rear panel. Book 2 is a first printing in a second state binding with 'Year 2' on the book spine, with a first state jacket ($17.95 flap price, no 'Year 2' on spine). Volumes 3-7 are all first printings. Minor wear to corners of books 1 & 2, ink name on front endpaper of book 2, page edges of book 4 faintly smudged. Overall, a very presentable set with tight bindings and only minor cosmetic flaws. All jackets are protected under fresh archival mylar covers. An important fact to note concerning Harry Potter first editions: the points used to determine the printing, binding state, and jacket state of these books, particularly the first two in the series, are somewhat complicated. It is, therefore, relatively easy for novices to mistake later states or printings for 'the real deal', and because of this one often sees these reprints advertised as first editions. We have a generally optimistic view of humanity, and expect that the majority of these sellers are simply victims of their own misapprehension. In any event, we would recommend treading with caution and, ideally, consult with a professional bookseller before making a deal that seems too good to be true. We are happy to answer your inquiries about the edition points of these books so you can make your purchase decision with confidence. 1998 Hard Cover. We have more books available by this author. Complete in seven hardcover volumes, this is the series that became a publishing and film phenomenon, creating a new generation of ravenous readers at a time when reading was becoming an endangered hobby. It has also increased the interest in book collecting: collectible editions of Rowling's works continue to command high prices, and if the success of spin-off books, feature films, Pottermore, and Harry Potter themed attractions is any indication, the story of the boy who lived is a modern classic, and will remain popular for many generations. About this Item: Bloomsbury, 2003. Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. This first British edition of HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX was published by Bloomsbury, in the UK, in 2003 and is in new condition with a new dust jacket. HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX is the fifth in the Harry Potter series written by J. K. Rowling. The novel features Harry Potter's struggles through his fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, including the surreptitious return of Harry's nemesis Lord Voldemort, O.W.L. exams, and an obstructive Ministry of Magic. The wonderful pictorial boards are in new condition with not an issue to be found. This book comes from an estate sale where the owner took great care in preserving this book. There is no shelf wear to be found, the illustration is as bright, crisp and clear as the day of publication, and the spine is tight and holding strong. The pages within are in the same new condition as the rest of the book. Not a mark, tear, fold or crease can be found anywhere. This book has no bookplate nor is there any writing or other marks present on any page. The best part of this book is the dust jacket. It is in amazing condition and looks almost new. The original owner, as stated earlier, took great pains to preserve this first British edition. There is no question that this book is an incredible find and will be cherished by any Rowling fan.
