Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. According to Bloomsbury, the paperback copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was published on May 28th 1999, however , contemporaneous press reports indicate that the book was actually published in January 1999, which is also the date suggested on the proof cover for the paperback edition of the book. The total number of first printing paperback copies is still unknown. Signed copies of the paperback with a 'signed by the author' sticker were offered for sale throughout bookshops in Scotland to help promote the release of the book, this is the likely origin of this book. There were signing events conducted for this book, however, they were few and Jo often inscribed these copies, therefore a flat signed copy, without an inscription is exceptionally rare. This is a lovely near fine copy, unread, with a tight binding. The spine has some mild creasing and the front cover has a very small crease to the lower right corner. The page edges are mildly toned as is the case so often with these paperbacks due to the cheap paper stock used. Internally, there are no ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind with no dog eared pages, folds or creases to any of the pages. Overall this is an excellent copy with a beautiful variation of J.K. Rowling's signature, big and bold to the dedication page in black pen to the dedication page. The signature comes fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Title: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Author J.K. Rowling. Publisher: Arthur A. Levine Books (An Imprint of Scholastic Press). Place: New York (Printed in the USA). Date: Copyright 1999. Description: 341 Pp. 8vo. Signed by Author (Scholastic bookplate adhered to endpaper opposite dedication page. 1/3 publisher's green cloth hardcover, gilt title on spine cover, black/white illustrations head text chapters, protective mylar cover over color illustrated dust jacket. Measures: 1.25 W x 6.5 D x 9.25 H inches. About the work: THE DURSLEYS were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he's packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike. And strike it does. For in Harry's second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls' bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley's younger sister, Ginny. But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone -- or something -- starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects . Harry Potter himself? (Dust jacket, inside front flap). Condition notes: Fair-Good; book cover wear commensurate with age and use (e.g. damp stained cloth, soiled from handling, boards cloth cover inked), square spine, clean and bright text pages. Dust jacket condition: Fine. See images. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Joanne (Kathleen) Rowling (1998) 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets', UK first edition, fifth printing, published by Bloomsbury. Signed and inscribed by the author: "To Rory sorry I missed you! [signature]". Condition: a near fine copy. Internally absolutely clean without any previous owner's names, no bookplates, no stamps. No foxing and boards clean. One tiny bump to bottom edge board. Otherwise as god as new. Dust jacket not price clipped. Provenance: We bought this at a prominent auction house in the UK. Apart from the experts at the auction house we have also analysed the signature and inscription. Handwriting and signature matches Rowling's 1998-1999 style of signing her books. In the years 1997-1999 Rowling was a far lesser know writer than from the year 2000 onwards when Pottarmania went off the charts. For the first three books she toured the UK regularly and visted a few schools and bookshops to do signings. This is the second book in the seminal Harry Potter series that took the world by storm causing Pottermania everywhere. 'Chamber of Secrets' won the British Children Book of the Year Award in 1998 following Rowling's success with 'Philosopher's Stone' in 1997. Adapted as a blockbuster film in 2002. The rest is fairytale history for Rowling and the Harry Potter franchise. First and Fine. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. This is a set of the first three US books in the Harry Potter series, all inscribed 'To Michael' by J.K. Rowling on October 20th, 2000, in New York City. Ten Scholastic essay contest winners were invited to have lunch with Rowling, one of which was Michael Salka who these books are inscribed to. This very brief visit to New York was Rowling's only meeting with Harry Potter fans in the United States in 2000. These books were sold by Michael himself to Adam Houston in 2022 who has since sold them to myself. Four photographs from the event are included, two photos show all 10 essay winners including Michael along with J.K. Rowling and another shows Michael's mum reading to him with these exact three books at the foot of the bed. Michael's mum passed away in 2022 which led him to sell the books. An amazing set, with a lovely story and fantastic provenance. The Sorcerer's Stone is a paperback 21st printing with an inscription that reads 'To Michael, congratulations, J.K. Rowling.' The Chamber of Secrets is a hardcover 22nd printing with an inscription that reads 'To Michael, a good writer himself! J.K. Rowling.' The Prisoner of Azkaban is a hardcover 7th printing with an inscription that reads 'To Michael, don't let those photographers get you down! J.K. Rowling.' All books are in very good condition. Internally all three of the books are exceptionally clean, they have lovely crisp white pages with no marks, ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind. The first book, the paperback appears unread, with an incredibly tight and square binding. there is some minor damage to the base of the spine approx 1.5cm closed tear of the front cover and the first page. The second and third books are in very similar condition to each other, they both have a slight spine lean, pushed spine tips and base, some minor marks to the boards and some minor shelf wear but overall in very good condition. The dust jackets are both in near fine condition with no colour fading at all and just a minor touch of shelf wear. All three inscriptions come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. This set comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card for each book along with four photographs from the event where the books were signed. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. First American Edition, First Printing, signed with a black pen by J.K. Rowling on the title page on October 12, 1999, at Barnes & Noble in Natick, MA. The book was signed for the previous owner, Heather Huntley, who attended the signing event with her father. The spine ends of the book are slightly bumped; otherwise, the book is in Fine condition, with a Fine dust jacket. A yellow Post-it note with a waving wizard stamp on the verso of the signed title page, placed there by a Barnes & Noble employee to speed up the signing, is still present. First editions signed in the year of publication are highly sought after and therefore scarce. This copy includes a very detailed, lengthy letter by Heather, recounting the day of the signing event, which provides a beautifully detailed story from the perspective of a 15-year-old Harry Potter fan. Also included is the all-important Letter of Authenticity (LOA) from the world's only J.K. Rowling signature expert, Adam Houston of TheHarryPotterSpecialist, along with a collector's card containing interesting details. Signed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. Grandpré, Mary (illustrator). 1st Edition. The books presented here are two later printings of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (43rd printing) and Chamber of Secrets (22nd printing) and a first printing of Prisoner of Azkaban. Each book is signed and inscribed 'To Hamish' who was the son of J.K. Rowling's neighbour when she was living in Abbotsford Park, Edinburgh. These are all 2000 variations of Rowling's signature and were all signed together for Hamish when he was eight years old. He kept the books for 24 years before deciding to sell them in 2024. All three books are in beautiful condition except for clear fading to the spines. Apart from that they are all in fine condition, unread with a tight and square binding and no clear creasing to the spines which is exceptionally rare for paperback books. There are no major creases or bowing at all to the front or back covers but there is the slightest bit of fading of the blue to the top left of the front cover of the second book only. Internally, there is very mild toning to the page edges, as always and is to be expected but no where near as is with most paperback copies. There are no ownership inscriptions or marks of any kind, no dog eared pages, tears or creases at all. Overall these books are in exceptional condition aside from the spine fading. All three signatures come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. This set comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. This is an extremely rare set of the first three books to find all inscribed with provenance. Condition: Fine in a fine jacket. GrandPré, Mary (illustrator). First printing. Signed first US edition, first issue, of the second Harry Potter book that introduces readers to "Moaning" Myrtle and Gilderoy Lockhart in addition to Voldemort's alter ego. The books remain formative for millions, including the many readers who reject Rowling's agitations against trans rights. This copy from the personal collection of Mary and Robert Brown, longtime owners of Books, Bytes, and Beyond bookstore in Glen Rock, NJ, who hosted Rowling for an event in October 1999, where this book was signed. Pottermania was just beginning to ramp up on this tour (for PRISONER OF AZKABAN), but had not reach the fevered pitch of later releases and appearances. Due to the strength of the forgery market, Rowling signatures are justifiably suspect. Authentically signed copies with clear provenance, like this one, are therefore more desirable. An excellent example of her early signature. 9'' x 6''. Publisher's orginal green quarter cloth over blue boards. In original unclipped full-color pictorial dust jacket with art by Mary Grandpré. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Grandpré. No "Year 2" on spine; price listed at $17.95. x, 341, [1] pages. Tiny dot sticker to verso of jacket. Bright, clean, sharp, and tight overall.
