George Dow, who spent much of his career working for the LNER, wrote in the 1960s the three volume "definitive" work about the Great Central Railway. This is very much a companion volume, described as "A Pictorial Supplement to Great Central"; about 200 photographs over 128 pages, virtually all dating from pre-Grouping. Although concentrating on locomotives, there are pictures of freight and passenger stock, line construction, stations and even those locos transported overseas to see service in WW1. Ref ZZ6.
