Cloth. Condition: Good. Not Stated (illustrator). An illustrated work on naval tactics by William Bainbridge-Hoff, illustrated with twenty-six folding plates. 'Examples, Conclusions, and Maxims of Modern Naval Tactics' is an instructive guide to naval tactics, looking at war vessels, the ship and her captain, formations, evolutions of the fleet, defence of the coast, and the fleet in action. The author stated that naval tactics is one of the most important branches of knowledge for naval offices. Written by William Bainbridge-Hoff, who served in the United States Navy. Bainbridge-Hoff was the author of several words on naval tactics, which have since been translated into various languages, becoming the standard works on naval tactics. With twenty-six folding plates. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Light discolouration to the spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in a little loss to the head of the spine. A little marking to the boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound, though a little strained in one place. Pages are bright with the odd spot, a little heavier to some plates. Good. book.
