1st edition. SIGNED and INSCRIBED by the AUTHOR on the front endpaper: "For Ann, With much love from the Author, Charles, 1957". Hardback in dustwrapper. Contents: some light to moderate browning, mainly to endpapers. Otherwise pages generally good and clean. Boards: a few small dents and knocks, otherwise good. Dustwrapper: several long, pronounced tears and creases (internally closed). Several small chips to edges. Pronounced creasing and rubbing. Still bright, colourful and a great dustwrapper design despite faults! Binding tight. 276 pp.
