A fine, fresh unued copy in equally fine dust jacket. Hardcover.337 pp. with index, extensive statistical appendix and illustrated with photos. Biography of one of Britains' most famous and successful flat racing jockeys, the late Lester Piggott (1935-2022). As early as 1973, Lester asked Dick Francis to write his story, for "when I retire". This book is a result of conversations between the two taped at intervals over the ensuing years, during which Lester slowly revealed his inner self as to no writer before. Lester has 4493 flat racing career wins, including nine Epsom Derby victories.

Condition: Good. Cover is a little worn with some small scuffs and scratches from wear to the covers and textblock.

First edition, first printing. Published by Michael Joseph in London, 1986. This is a good copy - SIGNED on the title by Dick Francis. The dust wrapper, illustrated with a photograph of the author, has not been price clipped and has some slight shelfwear throughout and a small hole to the spine. The boards are free from notable chips and marks. The textblocks are mostly clean though with some creasing to the boards.
