Con numerose tavole a colori . Cm 31x25. pp. 86. . Ottimo (Fine). . . . Joe Tilson, scultore e pittore inglese, ha studiato alla St. Martin's school of art e al Royal college of art di Londra. Ottenuto il Prix de Rome (1955), è stato in Italia fino al 1957; in seguito ha insegnato in varie scuole d'arte inglesi e alla School of visual art di New York (1966). Tra i protagonisti della pop art inglese, Tilson ha sperimentato diversi materiali (vernici, legno, plexiglass, ecc.) e tecniche (dal collage al fotomontaggio, all'incisione) giungendo, negli anni Sessanta, a soluzioni originali con la serie di dipinti e costruzioni ispirate ai giochi a incastro dei bambini (serie Key-box; Spiral-box; ecc.) o al tema della ziqqurat. Espone alla XXXII Biennale di Venezia nel 1963 e vince il Gran Premio alla Biennale della Grafica di Cracovia. Nel 2001 una  retrospettiva delle sue opere viene organizzata a Castelbasso e alla galleria Giò Marconi di Milano. Nello stesso anno è nominato socio dell'Accademia di San Luca a Roma.Negli ultimi anni ha esposto alla Royal Academy of Arts, alla Cristea Gallery e alla Beaux Arts Gallery di Londra, nella Bugno Art Gallery di Venezia. Opere di Tilson si trovano nei musei di tutto il mondo, fra gli altri alla Tate Gallery di Londra, al Museo de arte di San Paolo, alla Kunsthalle di Basilea, ecc.
