Your continuing interest in the navy and your interest in - 'Command Performance With Guts' - are genuinely appreciated and it delights me to dedicate this first edition book to you. C. D. Glover". Glover has additionally signed underneath his portrait "Cato D. Glover Admiral US Navy (Retired)." Glover (1897-1988) commanded the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise in heavy combat in the Pacific in the Second World War. After the war, he served in several high ranking capacities in the newly formed NATO and did much to shape the organization. The recipient Selden K. Smith (1930-2018) taught history for nearly four decades at Columbia College in South Carolina (where Glover lived) and was a pioneer in developing Holocaust education courses at the college. Octavo.
