Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Seuss, Dr. (illustrator). 1st Edition. Random House. New York. 62 pages. 1976 (1993). First edition, second issue. The first issue of this title was in 1976, and then a second time in 1993. This is the 1993 issue. Bright, clean and tight in seemingly unread condition. 4 sharp corners. No writing on or within. No DJ as issued. $8.99 price intact on back cover. Book would grade fine except for one very minor, minor flaw. At an angle under certain lighting you can see a small blind impression of a name, likely the result of someone writing their name on a piece of paper that was sitting on top of this book. Again, this is essentially invisible as you have to shimmy the book to see the small faint imprint. This flaw is not even worth noting but there you have it. Book is about fine. One of the notorious six Dr. Seuss titles that have been 'retired.'.
Hardback. Condition: Near Fine. Dr. Suess (illustrator). First edition. The first edition of this 'Cat in the Hat' themed children's quiz book by Dr. Suess, noted for being one of the six 'withdrawn' books. The first edition.Illustrated throughout with vibrant full colour illustrations. This quiz book features a collection of fun and creative quiz questions featuring the popular 'Cat in the Hat' character created by Dr. Suess. The work isof note due to the withdrawal of it's publication in 2021, when the company decided to withdraw six titles due to 'Hurtful and wrong' portrayals, with this being one of those titles. The work was withdrawn due to a potentially harmful portrayal of a Japanese man to pp.13 in the 'How old do you have to be?' section of the work. In the publisher's original pictorial hardbacks. Externally excellent with slight handling marks and a slight lean. Internally firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Near Fine. book.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1970s examples of the six books Dr. Seuss Enterprises has decided to cease printing. ' "These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong," Dr. Seuss Enterprises ? a division of Penguin Random House ? told The Associated Press in a statement that coincided with the late author and illustrator's birthday. "Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises' catalogue represents and supports all communities and families." ' [CBC posted Mar. 2, 2021] Each book is in the larger format 11 x 8.25 inches, issued in the 1970s. Five are Book Club Editions, with identical codes: BCDEFGHIJKLM / 012345678. These five are nearly as-new, having slight rubbing only to corners and edges, with no inscriptions. If I Ran the Zoo, not stated to be Book Club, slightly taller than the others, has light staining to the covers, more noticeable rubbing, and a 1979 Christmas gift inscription top right of title page. The set offered here, with no intention of disrespect to anybody.

First edition, first printing; 4to (290 x 210 x mm.); colour illustrations throughout, pictorial endpapers; publisher's pictorial glossy boards (as issued) just a hint of rubbing to corners, otherwise near fine and internally fine. A very rare title from the Dr. Seuss canon and more so in such good condition. It is one of the six titles Dr. Seuss Enterprises withdrew from publication in 2021, for 'hurtful and wrong' content, which is tricky to see why in this title. Younger and Hirsch 13.
