Clean pages with moderate tanning and foxing throughout, heavy foxing to endpapers. Tightly bound with mild thumb-marking throughout. Boards have light edgewear with corner crushing and notable marking to boards. Heavy tanning to board edges and spine, which has notable crushing and tearing to ends. Notable cracking to front joint. Mild water stains and droplets to front board.

Written and illustrated by John Campbell, the Marquess of Lorne and Duke of Argyll. Campbell was a nobleman who held the position of Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. 8 pageS of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, fairly smart, with wear to the joints and extremities, and faint stains to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with the odd spot. Very Good. book.
