Some slight use else a very good paperback. To "anyone with an awakening interest in ornithology, the warblers may seem a very daunting group. There are three broad introductory chapters to the warblers of the Old and New Worlds and those of Britain, with several chapters examining, comparing and contrasting members of each genus, and a series of single chapters for each breeding species; these review in detail their characteristics. This most comprehensive and accessible reviewof the popular and intriguing group is fully illustrated with maps, sonagrams, diagrams and photographs." Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition, First State. First edition, first state copy; pp. 432; 6 colour plates, numerous b/w photographs and b/w diagrams & maps. Dust jacket near fine, just a hint of fading to spine, with the publisher's clear "Duraseal" protector, not price-clipped. Green Buckram boards fine. Contents clean and tight, no inscriptions. A near fine first edition, first state, copy. Along with NN70 Orkney, British Warblers is the rarest of all New Naturalists. (This is the First Edition First State of which only 725 copies were printed. Collins was unable to fulfil orders for the hardback edition, so subsequently bound up an additional 500 copies from stripped paperbacks, and these are referred to as second state copies. Second State copies are distinguised principally from the first state by being a few mm. shorter and are bound in pea-green "Linson" embossed paper-cloth rather than dark green, slightly shiny buckram. Additionally the dust jacket was not covered in a plastic "Duraseal" protector, unlike the first state edition.) [Collecting the New Naturalists NN71A] Size: 8vo. book.
