Library bound in dull gold buckram with remains of white library spine label, covers otherwise good. Interior has normal library markings including pocket. This copy has a number of neat scholarly pencil notes which should be quite useful, including additional addenda/corrigenda and additions and corrections to the Hand List of Beneventan MSS. Few pages have some short edge chips, preface page has short tear at bottom gutter, otherwise sturdy and good. From a scholarly library and apparently used by a scholar. ; Ex-Library; 384 pages.

Hardcover. Condition: Very good. First Edition. Scholarly monograph on a medieval script which originated in the Duchy of Benevento in southern Italy. Also called Longobarda, or sometimes Gothica, it was used from approximately the mid-8th century until the 13th century, although there are examples as late as the 16th century. Tall octavo: xix, 384 p. with 9 plates and 2 facsimiles. Original blue cloth binding, with gilt titles. Tiny previous owner's ink signature to the front pastedown. The spine is a touch sun faded; otherwise very good.
