Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Good condition red hard cover with a good condition dust jacket wrapped in mylar. The dust jacket has been price cut on the back cover, that includes through the mylar wrapping. The dust jacket and front and back paste downs have tape residue, It is an ex-library book so there is a pouch pasted to the front free end page and two stamps on the half title page. Interior is clean otherwise with a tight binding. A book on the history of American diplomats opening East Asia to trade with the Americans. Specifically opening Japan and Siam, Siam being modern day Thailand. The US was desperate to get into new markets in the mid to late 1800's to expand their trade empire to boost Americas ability to act on a global stage. Not always using good faith actions to achieve this goal.
