Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. A classic in the proscribed erotica literature, this being the comparatively well-known late nineteenth century issue of an eighteenth century novel, and we believe the first re-issue of that scarce work. 12mo. 18 by 11 cm. 224 pp. The pages are heavily browned, as per the pulp rich paper used. The plain orange wraps, original to the edition, have tattering upper and lower spine extremities, with a small loss, close to the lower edge, but the light card paper surface is fairly clean, with just a hint of soil, or film of soil. The dust jacket, or what we deem a dust jacket, with the title, centerpiece vignette, and flaps that help secure it to the wraps (some might not regard this as a dust jacket) has a darker film of dusty soiling, a fair amount of which can be erased based on our testing of this proposition. More serious is that this DJ is torn along the front joint or fold into two pieces. The tear is neat and the two pieces can be re-attached with archival tape, which we can do but we will await a buyer and then discuss the options. Some additional short closed tears, a small lifting of the surface on the spine, small losses at spine extremities. One should consult our photos to understand better the condition issues such as they on on this item. Since this is generally a clean-ish copy and some of the issues are inevitable, we believe, we regard this as Very Good (Minus). Softcover (card). Or wraps, with a dust jacket.
