Hardcover. Condition: Very Good Plus. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good Plus. New Edition. 1991. First Banner edition. xvi, 502pp. The book is in excellent condition with no inscriptions. The unclipped dust jacket is also in excellent condition with just light wear. George Smeaton (1814-1889) was a Scottish theologian and Greek scholar. He left the established Church of Scotland in the Disruption of 1843 to become one of the founders of the Free Church of Scotland. He served as professor of theology at the Free Church College in Aberdeen from 1854 to 1857, and then as Professor of New Testament Exegesis at New College, Edinburgh from 1857 until his death. In this work he displays his sensitive theological acumen, his skill in judicious exposition, and his evident devotion to the person of Jesus Christ - all combined in a masterly survey of the Gospel texts which illumine the doctrine of the atonement.

All contents are tight and clean. PLEASE NOTE: Heavyish book so a little extra may be needed for shipping to non-UK customers. "Studies in Theology contains articles by Warfield on a wide and fascinating variety of themes. Rich doctrinal treatments of the Atonement, the Inspiration of Scripture, Systematic Theology, and Christian Supernaturalism are, perhaps, to be expected by those familiar with Warfield's reputation. But here his interests include such subjects as 'The Archaeology of the Mode of Baptism' and 'Charles Darwin's Religious Life'. The 21 essays in this volume provide a glorious kaleidoscope of Warfield's written ministry.".
