Excerpt: ) ) are the adopted logographic Chinese characters hanzi that are used in the modern Japanese writing system along with hiragana ( , ), katakana ( , ), Indo Arabic numerals, and the occasional use of the Latin alphabet (known as 'r maji'). The Japanese term kanji ( ) for the Chinese characters literally means 'Han characters' and is the same written term in the Chinese language to refer to the character writing system hanzi ( ). Chinese characters first came to Japan on articles imported from China. An early instance of such an import was a gold seal given by the Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty in 57 AD. It is not clear when Japanese people started to gain a command of Classical Chinese by themselves. According to Japanese legends of Nihon Shoki and Kojiki a scholar called Wani ( ) was dispatched by the Kingdom of Baekje in southwestern Korea to the Japanese Islands during the reign of Emperor jin, bringing with him the knowledge of Confucianism and the Chinese writing system. The first actual Japanese documents were probably written by Chinese immigrants. For example, the diplomatic correspondence from King Bu of Wa to Emperor Shun of the Liu Song Dynasty in 478 has been praised for its skillful use of allusion. Later, groups of people called fuhito were organized under the monarch to read and write Classical Chinese. From the 6th century onwards, Chinese documents written in Japan tended to show linguistic interference from Japanese, suggesting the wide acceptance of Chinese characters in Japan. The Japanese language itself had no written form at the time kanji was introduced. Originally texts were written in the Chinese language and would have been read as such. Over time, however, a system known as kanbun ( ) emerged, which involved using Chinese text with diacritical marks to allow Japanese speakers to restructure and read Chinese sentences, by changing word order and adding particles and verb endings, in accordance with the rules of Japane 24 pp. Englisch.…

Chapters: Bonnie Bonnell, Curly Howard, Emil Sitka, Fred Sanborn, Joe Besser, Joe DeRita, Joe Palma, Larry Fine, Moe Howard, Shemp Howard, Ted Healy. Excerpt: Jerome Lester 'Jerry' Horwitz (October 22, 1903 January 18, 1952), better known by his stage name Curly Howard, was an American comedian and vaudevillian. He was best known as a member of the American slapstick comedy team and being a fat guy The Three Stooges, along with his older brothers Moe Howard and Shemp Howard, and actor Larry Fine. Curly was generally considered the most popular and recognizable of the Stooges. He was well known for his high-pitched voice, vocal expressions ('nyuk-nyuk-nyuk!', 'woo-woo-woo!', 'soitenly!' and barking like a dog), as well as his physical comedy, improvisations, and athleticism. An untrained actor, Curly borrowed (and significantly exaggerated) the 'woo woo' from 'nervous' and soft-spoken comedian Hugh Herbert. Curly's unique version of 'woo-woo-woo' was firmly established by the time of the Stooges' second film Punch Drunks in 1934. Curly Howard was born Jerome Lester Horwitz in the Bensonhurst section of the Brooklyn borough of New York City. He was the fifth of the five Horwitz brothers and of Lithuanian Jewish ancestry. Because he was the youngest, his brothers called him 'Babe' to tease him. The nickname stuck with him all his life, although when his older brother Shemp married Gertrude Frank, who was also nicknamed 'Babe,' the brothers started calling him 'Curly' to avoid confusion. His full formal Hebrew name was 'Yehudah Lev ben Shlomo Natan ha Levi.' A quiet child, Curly rarely caused problems for his parents (something older brothers Moe and Shemp excelled in). He was a mediocre student academically, but excelled as an athlete on the school basketball team. He didn't graduate from high school, but kept himself busy with odd jobs and constantly followed his older brothers, whom he idolized. He was also an accomplished ballroom dancer and singer, and regularly turned up at the Triangle Ballroom in Brooklyn, occasionally bumping into George Raft. When Curly was 12, he accidentally shot himself in the left ankle while 24 pp. Englisch.…

Chapters: A Clockwork Orange, Brainwash: The Secret History of Mind Control, Brainwashing: The Science of Thought Control, Combatting Cult Mind Control, Cults in Our Midst, Propaganda: The Formation of Men's Attitudes, Releasing the Bonds, Snapping: America's Epidemic of Sudden Personality Change, The Making of a Moonie, The Manchurian Candidate, Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism, Twisted Scriptures. Excerpt: Propaganda: The Formation of Men's Attitudes (1965/1973) (French: ; original French edition: 1962) is a book on the subject of propaganda by French philosopher, theologian, legal scholar, and sociologist Jacques Ellul. This book appears to be the first attempt to study propaganda from a sociological approach as well as a psychological one. It presents a sophisticated taxonomy for propaganda, including such paired opposites as political sociological, vertical horizontal, rational irrational, and agitation integration. The book contains Ellul's theories about the nature of propaganda to adapt the individual to a society, to a living standard and to an activity aiming to make the individual serve and conform. The work concerns propaganda as an inner control over an individual by a social force. During World War II, Ellul was a leader in the French resistance after being discharged as a professor from French universities by the Vichy regime. After France's liberation, he became professor at the University of Bordeaux. He authored 58 books and numerous articles over his lifetime, the dominant theme of which has been the threat to human freedom created by modern technology. In 1947, Ellul was appointed chair of law and social history at the Institut d'études politiques that increased his reputation as a social and political philosopher which led to the publication of his works in the United States. Propaganda has long been recognized as a general phenomenon in the modern world. As early as 1928, Edward Bernays recognized propaganda as a modern instrument to be utilized to produce productive ends and help bring order out of chaos . Since then, there has been great difficulty in determining what constitutes propaganda in our world and what the nature of propaganda is because it is a secret action. For a long time, propaganda was simplistically viewed as being able to modify sentiments and attitudes of an individual without their being conscious of such an attempt. This lim 26 pp. Englisch.…

The church is a four-post single-nave stave church originally built around 1200 in the parish of Vang in the Valdres region of Norway. Drawing of the stave church from 1841 by F.W. Schiertz Original location of Vang stave churchIn 1832, the local council decided to pull down the stave church because it was too small and had become structurally unsafe over the years. The plans for its demolition and replacement were known already in 1826, when the painter Johan Christian Dahl made the first attempt to save it. He urged the council to repair and extend it. There was also an attempt to have it re-erected at Heensåsen in the same parish as an annex church. Knut Nordsveen, a local farmer, offered to donate the building site to the community, but his offer was rejected. Disappointed by the rebuff, he later sold his farm and emigrated to America. In 1932, a monument was erected in memory of him. While traveling in Norway in 1839, J. C. Dahl again visited Vang. He found the stave church still standing, beside a newly built larger log-built church seating 230 parishioners. Demolition of the old one was imminent. Dahl was more than ever convinced that the stave church must be preserved as a cultural monument. He proposed without success to have it re-erected as a Royal Chapel in Christiania, or as a museum church adjacent to the medieval Haakon's Hall in Bergen. Count Herman Wedel Jarlsberg announced his willingness to place it in his park at Bogstad manor near Christiania, but he died before the plan could be carried out. Dahl saw no other way than to buy the church himself. He asked the vicar of Vang to bid on his behalf at the public auction held in January 1841. Chapters: Case variants of IPA letters, Click letter, Extensions to the International Phonetic Alphabet, Handwritten IPA, History of the International Phonetic Alphabet, International Phonetic Alphabet chart for English dialects, International Phonetic Association, International Phonetic Association Kiel Convention, IPA Extensions (Unicode block), IPA pulmonic consonant chart with audio, IPA vowel chart with audio, Naming conventions of the International Phonetic Alphabet, Obsolete and nonstandard symbols in the International Phonetic Alphabet. Excerpt: The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) is an alphabetic system of phonetic notation based primarily on the Latin alphabet. It was devised by the International Phonetic Association as a standardized representation of the sounds of oral language. The IPA is used by lexicographers, foreign language students and teachers, linguists, Speech-Language Pathologists, singers, actors, constructed language creators, and translators. The IPA is designed to represent only those qualities of speech that are distinctive in oral language: phonemes, intonation, and the separation of words and syllables. To represent additional qualities of speech such as tooth gnashing, lisping, and sounds made with a cleft palate, an extended set of symbols called the Extensions to the IPA may be used. IPA symbols are composed of one or more elements of two basic types, letters and diacritics. For example, the sound of the English letter t may be transcribed in IPA with a single letter, , or with a letter plus diacritics, , depending on how precise one wishes to be. Often, slashes are used to signal broad or phonemic transcription; thus, is less specific than, and could refer to, either or depending on the context and language. Occasionally letters or diacritics are added, removed, or modified by the International Phonetic Association. As of the most recent change in 2005, there are 107 letters, 52 diacritics, and four prosodic marks in the IPA. These are shown in the current IPA chart, posted below in this article and at the website of the IPA. In 1886, a group of French and British language teachers, led by the French linguist Paul Passy, formed what would come to be known from 1897 onwards as the International Phonetic Association (in French, l Association phonétique internationale). Their original alphabet was based on a spelling reform for English known as the Romic alphabet, but in order to make it usable for other languages, the values of the symbols were allowed to vary from language t 32 pp. Englisch. …

Excerpt: Shanna the She-Devil is a fictional jungle adventuress in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Carole Seuling and penciler George Tuska, she made her first appearance in Shanna the She-Devil No.1 (Dec. 1972) and was ranked 53rd in Comics Buyer's Guide's '100 Sexiest Women in Comics' list. Shanna the She-Devil was introduced in one of a trio of Marvel Comics aimed at a female audience, alongside Night Nurse and Claws of the Cat. Marvel writer-editor Roy Thomas recalled in 2007 that editor-in-chief Stan Lee Seuling in 2010 recalled,'My instructions were to make someone who would fit in with the times and also was prone to a little more violence than Sheena or the other jungle queens of the past.' With veteran penciler George Tuska, she created the lead character and her two leopard companions, as well as game warden and potential romantic interest Patrick McShane, loosely based on after actor Patrick McGoohan's game-warden character in the film Nor the Moon by Night. The writer Steve Gerber, in his first assignment for Marvel Comics, supplied additional dialogue for that first issue, as well as the next. Seuling explained, This initial series ran five issues (Dec. 1972 - Aug. 1973), with Jim Steranko drawing the covers of Nos.1-2, John Buscema and Joe Sinnott of issue No.3, and John Romita Sr. of the final two issues. The character went on to a series of guest appearances, first in the jungle lord comic Ka-Zar No.1 (Jan. 1974); then in a storyline running through the superhero comics Daredevil No.109-111 (May July 1974) and Marvel Two-in-One No.3 (May 1974), which supplied additional details about Shanna's past and family, and notes McShane's murder by the supervillainess Nekra in the interim; in Daredevil No.117 (Jan. 1975); and in a Ka-Zar story in the black-and-white, mature-audience comics magazine Savage Tales No.8 (Jan. 1975). 32 pp. Englisch. …

Chapters: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954 film), A High Wind in Jamaica (film), Club Paradise, Come Spy with Me (film), Dark of the Sun, Dr. No (film), In Like Flint, Knight and Day, Land of Look Behind, License to Wed, Life and Debt, Live and Let Die (film), Marked for Death, Our Man in Jamaica, Papillon (film), Passionate Summer, Scam (film), Smile Orange (film), The Blue Lagoon (1980 film), The Harder They Come, Wide Sargasso Sea (1993 film). Excerpt: Dr. No is a 1962 British spy film, starring Sean Connery; it is the first James Bond film. Based on the 1958 Ian Fleming novel of the same name, it was adapted by Richard Maibaum, Johanna Harwood, and Berkely Mather and was directed by Terence Young. The film was produced by Harry Saltzman and Albert R. Broccoli, a partnership that would continue until 1975. In the film, James Bond is sent to Jamaica to investigate the death of a fellow British agent. The trail leads him to the underground base of Dr. Julius No, who is plotting to disrupt an early American manned space launch with a radio beam weapon. Although the first of the Bond books to be made into a film, Dr. No was not the first of Fleming's novels, Casino Royale being the debut for the character; however, the film makes a few references to threads from earlier books. Dr. No was produced with a low budget, and was a financial success. While critical reaction at release was mixed, over time the film received a reputation as one of the franchise's best instalments. The film was the first of a successful series of 23 Bond films. Dr. No also launched a genre of 'secret agent' films that flourished in the 1960s. The film also spawned a spin-off comic book and soundtrack album as part of its promotion and marketing. Many of the iconic aspects of a typical James Bond film were established in Dr. No: the film begins with an introduction to the character through the view of a gun barrel and a highly stylised main title sequence, both created by Maurice Binder. Production designer Ken Adam established an elaborate visual style that is one of the hallmarks of the Bond film series. John Strangways, the British Intelligence (SIS) Station Chief in Jamaica, is ambushed and killed, and his body taken by a trio of assassins known as the 'Three Blind Mice'. In response, British agent James Bond also known as 007 is summoned to the office of his superior, M. Bond is briefed to investigate Strangways' disappearance and to determ 38 pp. Englisch. …

Excerpt: The spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta) also known as laughing hyena, is a carnivorous mammal of the family Hyaenidae, of which it is the largest extant member. Though the species' prehistoric range included Eurasia extending from Atlantic Europe to China, it now only occurs in all of Africa south of the Sahara save for the Congo Basin. Spotted hyenas live in large matriarchal communities called clans, which can consist of up to 80 individuals. Though often mislabeled as cowardly scavengers, spotted hyenas derive the majority of their nourishment by hunting medium sized ungulates, and frequently clash with lions over food and territory. They are highly intelligent among the carnivora, with studies indicating that their social intelligence is on par with some primate species. The spotted hyena features prominently in African mythology and folklore, where its portrayal varies from being a bringer of light, to a symbol of immorality and depravity. Skull of Crocuta crocuta spelaeaIt is thought that the ancestors of the spotted hyena branched off from the true hyenas (striped and brown hyenas) during the Pliocene era, 5.332 million to 1.806 million years ago. Ancestral spotted hyenas probably developed social behaviours in response to increased pressure from rivals on carcasses, thus forcing them to operate in teams. Spotted hyenas evolved sharp carnassials behind their crushing premolars, therefore they did not need to wait for their prey to die, as is the case for brown and striped hyenas, and thus became pack hunters as well as scavengers. They began forming increasingly larger territories, necessitated by the fact that their prey was often migratory, and long chases in a small territory would have caused them to encroach into another clan's turf. The evolution of pack behaviour in hyenas likely influenced the ancestors of lions into first forming prides, in order to better defend their kills. According to the fossil record, the species first evolved in the Indian Subcont 66 pp. Englisch. …

Excerpt: This list of Scottish Gaelic surnames shows Scottish Gaelic surnames beside their English language equivalent. The following points should be noted: Note that certain names may appear multiple times on this list; use the 'find' or 'search' function in your web browser to quickly look up certain names. Mac- (son of) is by far the most common element in Scottish Gaelic surnames. Mac Maoláin is an ancient Gaelic surname of native Irish origin adopted by the sons of Maolán in the early 11th century. It later became anglicized as: MacMullen, MacMullan, MacMoylan, McMullen, McMullan and McMullin. Irish Gaelic variants Mac Maoláin, Mic Maoláin, Mhic Mhaoláin and Mac Maolin evolved in several regions of Ireland and can be found recorded in Irish Annal entries spanning several centuries. The variant Mac Maoláin connects primarily to septs (families) of the Gaileanga (Gallen) and Luighne (Lune) in East Cavan, North Meath, Dunboyne plus the monastic communities of: Ros Commain, Clonmacnoise, Clonfert, Clones, Ceanannus (Kells) and the Culdee order. Maelán Maelan mac Cathmogha or Maolán (Mullan) as the forename of a significant noble prior to the emergence of surnames, was first recorded in ancient Maigh Seola (Athenry to Taum area of Galway). Identified as King of the southern Ui Briuin, Maelán was slain by the Vikings c.848 AD. Historians such as O'Rahilly suggest this pedigree of Ui Briuin was fictitious and that descendants of this particular Maelán, part of the Muinter Murchada, were more likely political allies (Laigin) versus actual blood relations of the Ui Briuin. This theory finds additional support with the later sept of O'Mullen, identified in subsequent research projects as being ethnically Laigin (Ui Diarmada of Hy Many Ref 1-page 87) . Historical entries in the Annals of Ireland for the forename Maolán and later surname variants, surface in the 10th century and are linked primarily to families located in the ancient provinces of Leinster and Connacht. She was more than ever certain that Captain Willoughby had brought stirring news; she was more than ever tortured by her vain efforts to guess its nature. But Mrs. Adair, in spite of her perplexities, took her share in the talk, and that dinner passed with a freedom from embarrassment unknown since Durrance had come home to Guessens. For he, too, threw off a burden of restraint; his spirits rose to match Ethne's; he answered laugh with laugh, and from his face that habitual look of tension, the look of a man listening with all his might that his ears might make good the loss of his eyes, passed altogether away. 'You will play on your violin to-night, I think,' he said with a smile, as they rose from the table. 'Yes,' she answered, 'I will with all my heart.' Durrance laughed and held open the door. The violin had remained locked in its case during these last two months. Durrance had come to look upon that violin as a gauge and test. If the world was going well with Ethne, the case was unlocked, the instrument was allowed to speak; if the world went ill, it was kept silent lest it should say too much, and open old wounds and lay them bare to other eyes. Ethne herself knew it for an indiscreet friend. But it was to be brought out to-night. Mrs. Adair lingered until Ethne was out of ear-shot. 'You have noticed the change in her to-night ' she said. 'Yes. Have I not ' answered Durrance. 'One has waited for it, hoped for it, despaired of it.' 'Are you so glad of the change ' Durrance threw back his head. 'Do you wonder that I am glad Kind, friendly, unselfish these things she has always been. But there is more than friendliness evident to-night, and for the first time it's evident.' There came a look of pity upon Mrs. Adair's face, and she passed out of the room without another word. Durrance took all of that great change in Ethne to himself. Mrs. Adair drew up the blinds of the drawing-room, opened the window, and let. 100 pp. Englisch.…

In 1854, she sailed to Glasgow, Scotland with a cargo of wheat and flour. She remained in the coastal trade on the northwest cost of Great Britain for a year or so. During that time, Tobermory, Scotland (on the isle of Mull) was one of her ports of call. After returning to Canada, she ran aground near Flowerpot Island in 1883. She was refloated, repaired and continued her service. The following year, she met her ultimate fate near Echo Island as she floundered and sank. Currently, the hull is intact with the exception of the back 100' of the deck and the transom which have collapsed. I take mushrooms boiled instead; but the meat is never refused when we can purchase it, as it seems to ease the feeling of fatigue which jungle-fruit and fare engenders. The appetite in this country is always very keen, and makes hunger worse to bear: the want of salt, probably, makes the gnawing sensation worse. We now come to a disaster which cannot be exaggerated in importance when we witness its after effects month by month on Dr. Livingstone. There can be little doubt that the severity of his subsequent illnesses mainly turned upon it, and it is hardly too much to believe that his constitution from this time was steadily sapped by the effects of fever-poison which he was powerless to counteract, owing to the want of quinine. In his allusion to Bishop Mackenzie's death, we have only a further confirmation of the one rule in all such cases which must be followed, or the traveller in Africa goes not with his life in his hand, but in some luckless box, put in the charge of careless servants. Bishop Mackenzie had all his drugs destroyed by the upsetting of a canoe, in which was his case of medicines, and in a moment everything was soaked and spoilt. It cannot be too strongly urged on explorers that they should divide their more important medicines in such a way that a total loss shall become well-nigh impossible. Three or four tin canisters containing some calomel, Dover's powder, colocynth, and, above all, a supply of quinine, can be distributed in different packages, and then, if a mishap occurs similar to that which Livingstone relates, the disaster is not beyond remedy. 20th January, 1867. Excerpt: Kylie Ann Minogue, OBE ( ; born 28 May 1968), is an Australian pop singer, songwriter, and actress. After beginning her career as a child actress on Australian television, she achieved recognition through her role in the television soap opera Neighbours, before commencing her career as a recording artist in 1987. Her first single, 'Locomotion', spent seven weeks at number one on the Australian singles chart and became the highest selling single of the decade. This led to a contract with songwriters and producers Stock, Aitken & Waterman. Her debut album, Kylie (1988), and the single 'I Should Be So Lucky', each reached number one in the United Kingdom, and over the next two years, her first 13 singles reached the British top ten. Her debut film, The Delinquents (1989) was a box-office hit in Australia and the UK despite negative reviews. Initially presented as a 'girl next door', Minogue attempted to convey a more mature style in her music and public image. Her singles were well received, but after four albums her record sales were declining, and she left Stock, Aitken & Waterman in 1992 to establish herself as an independent performer. Her next single, 'Confide in Me', reached number one in Australia and was a hit in several European countries in 1994, and a duet with Nick Cave, 'Where the Wild Roses Grow', brought Minogue a greater degree of artistic credibility. Drawing inspiration from a range of musical styles and artists, Minogue took creative control over the songwriting for her next album, Impossible Princess (1997). It failed to attract strong reviews or sales in the UK, but was successful in Australia. Minogue returned to prominence in 2000 with the single 'Spinning Around' and the dance-oriented album Light Years, and she performed during the closing ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Her music videos showed a more sexually provocative and flirtatious personality and several hit singles followed. 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' reached number one in m 140 pp. Englisch. …

Kapitel: Belus, Varg Vikernes, Dauði Baldrs, Fallen, Det som engang var, Hvis lyset tar oss, Aske, Øystein Aarseth, Hliðskjálf, Samoth, Filosofem.

Auszug: Karl Barth ( 10. Mai 1886 in Basel; 10. Excerpt: Amistad is a 1997 historical drama film directed by Steven Spielberg based on the true story of a slave mutiny that took place aboard a ship of the same name in 1839, and the legal battle that followed. It shows how, even though the case was won at the federal district court level, it was appealed by President Martin Van Buren to the Supreme Court, and how former President John Quincy Adams took part in the proceedings. This was the second film for which Anthony Hopkins received an Academy Award nomination for playing a United States President, having previously been nominated in 1995 for playing Richard Nixon in Nixon. Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun appears in the film as Justice Joseph Story. The film begins in the depths of the schooner La Amistad, a slave-ship carrying captured West Africans into slavery. The film's protagonist, Sengbe Pieh (Djimon Hounsou), most known by his Catalan name, 'Cinqué,' (means fifth) painstakingly picks a nail out of the ship's structure and uses it to pick the lock on his shackles. Freeing a number of his companions, Cinquè initiates a rebellion on board the storm-tossed vessel. In the ensuing fighting, several Africans and most of the ship's Spanish crew are killed, but Cinquè saves two of the ship's officers, Ruiz and Montez, who he believes can sail them back to Africa (the officers try to explain their point in Spanish, as they do not speak Cinquè's language). After six weeks have passed, the ship is running out of food and fresh water, and Cinquè is growing angry with Yamba who believes keeping the Spaniards alive is the only way to get back to Africa. During the night, they pass another vessel, carrying a group of wealthy English-speaking passengers having a dinner party on deck. The next day, they sight land. Unsure of their location, a group of African men takes one of the ship's boats to shore to fetch fresh water. Excerpt: Hanoi Rocks was a Finnish rock band formed in 1979, whose most successful period came in the early 1980s. The band broke up in 1985 after the death of their drummer, Nicholas 'Razzle' Dingley. Original members vocalist Michael Monroe and guitarist Andy McCoy came back together in 2001 and were active with the new line-up of Hanoi Rocks until 2009. In the 80s, Hanoi Rocks were the most successful Finnish band internationally and are still popular in the United States, Japan, and England. They were also one of the first rock bands to tour in Asia, and were the first western rock band to play in Delhi. According to Finnish radio and TV personality Jone Nikula (who was also Hanoi Rocks' tour manager in the 2000s), Hanoi Rocks' albums have sold between 780,000 and 1,000,000 copies around the world, but mostly in Scandinavia and Japan. Although their album sales are strong, they are more widely known for their energetic live performances. Hanoi Rocks was formed in Helsinki in 1979 by Michael Monroe (Matti Fagerholm) and his friend, guitarist Andy McCoy (Antti Hulkko). Although McCoy was the other forming member, he didn't join the band right away, because, at the time, he was the guitarist for the Finnish punk band Pelle Miljoona Oy. McCoy let Monroe form the band without him, but they agreed that McCoy would join later. The original line-up of Hanoi Rocks consisted of Michael Monroe on vocals, former Pelle Miljoona Oy guitarist Stefan Piesnack, Monroe's old friend guitarist Nasty Suicide, bassist Nedo Soininen and drummer Peki Sirola. By 1980, Sirola was replaced by drummer Tumppi Varonen. The band toured Finnish clubs, playing McCoy and Monroe's own songs and covers like Cheap Trick's 'He's a Whore', The Police's 'Born in the 50's' and MC5's 'Looking at You'. At one of the band's first shows was Seppo Vesterinen, who had brought big name artists like Iggy Pop and Frank Zappa to Finland. Vesterinen soon became the band's manager after talking with McCoy and Monroe. In la 26 pp. Englisch.…

Corso, Albert E. Jenner, Jr., Norman Redlich, David W. Belin, John J. O'Brien. Excerpt: According to the single-bullet theory, a three-centimeter-long copper-jacketed lead-core 6.5-millimeter rifle bullet fired from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository passed through President Kennedy s neck and Governor Connally s chest and wrist and embedded itself in the Governor s thigh. If so, this bullet traversed 15 layers of clothing, 7 layers of skin, and approximately 15 inches of tissue, struck a necktie knot, removed 4 inches of rib, and shattered a radius bone. The bullet was found on a gurney in the corridor at the Parkland Memorial Hospital, in Dallas, after the assassination. The Warren Commission found that this gurney was the one that had borne Governor Connally. This bullet became a key Commission exhibit, identified as CE 399. Its copper jacket was completely intact. While the bullet's nose appeared normal, the tail was compressed laterally on one side. In its conclusion, the Warren Commission found 'persuasive evidence from the experts' that a single bullet caused the President's neck wound and all the wounds in Governor Connally. It acknowledged that there was a 'difference of opinion' among members of the Commission 'as to this probability', but stated that the theory was not essential to its conclusions and that all members had no doubt that all shots were fired from the sixth floor window of the Depository building. Most pro- and anti-conspiracy theorists believe that the Single Bullet Theory is essential to the Warren Commission's conclusion that Oswald acted alone. The reason for this is timing: if, as the Warren Commission found, JFK was wounded some time between frame 210 and 225 of the Zapruder film and Governor Connally was wounded in the back/chest no later than frame 240, there would not have been enough time between the wounding of President Kennedy and Governor Connally for Oswald to have fired two shots from his bolt action rifle. FBI marksmen, who test-fired the rifle for the Warren Commission, concluded that the 'mi 28 pp. Englisch.…
