Mint paperback reprint of a 1946 publication. 194pp. This story of the 4th Division covers the movements and operations of the Division from its earliest days in Britain via Tunisia and Italy to Greece at the end of the war. Although not one of the D-Day Divisions, like many other formations, it was fundamental to the success of the wider plans for the course of the war. The fighting in North Africa and Italy is detailed, and the whole book is excellently illustrated with maps and photographs.

First Edition
Softcovers. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. No stated date but believed to be 1948. First edition. 136pp., black and white illustrations and 19 maps (many folding). This book is an unofficial account of 46 Division's part in the Second World War. The 46th Infantry Division was an infantry division of the British Army raised in 1939 that saw distinguished service during the Second World War, fighting in the Battle of France and the Battle of Dunkirk where it was evacuated, and later in North Africa, Italy and Greece. It was written and published in occupied Austria just after the events described. Although not one of the D-Day Divisions, like many other formations it was fundamental to the success of the broad plans for the direction of the war. The fighting in North Africa and Italy is detailed, and there are also rolls of commands, staff, awards, and an Order of Battle. The book is bound in the original grey card covers with black titling on the spine and front cover. The book is in very good condition with expected shelf wear and some soiling on the covers. There is fairly heavy creasing around the top corner of the front cover and light creasing to the other corners. There is some damage to the card covering the spine ends with a little loss at the top of the spine. The contents are secure and clean with some staining and creasing to the half-title page and some scattered light marks elsewhere within in the book, including a few on the title-page. The top corners of the pages are bumped, most noticeably near the start of the book. There is no inscription.
