Auch die Rolle Deutschlands im NATO-Bündnis und die 'deutsche Karte' im Spiel der Mächte wird von Komossa einer ausführlichen Untersuchung unterzogen. Vieles konnte bislang nicht veröffentlicht werden. So etwa die erstaunliche Episode, daß Komossa sich bereits im Juli 1953, kurz nach Stalins Tod, persönlich an das Mitglied der sowjetischen Führungsspitze, Bulganin, gewandt und eine Neudefinition der deutsch-sowjetischen Beziehungen sowie die Rückführung der deutschen Kriegsgefangenen vorgeschlagen hatte. Noch lange später glaubten die Russen offenbar, daß höhere deutsche Stellen hinter diesem Brief gestanden hatten. Das Buch enthält überdies auch einige brisante, erstmals veröffentlichte Dokumente zum Verhältnis der Bundesrepublik zu den westlichen Alliierten. Der Autor:Gerd-Helmut Komossa ist Generalmajor der Bundeswehr a. D. und war Chef des Militärischen Abschirmdienstes sowie Chef des Amtes für Sicherheit der Bundeswehr (ASBW). Im Leopold Stocker Verlag erschienen bereits seine ins Polnische übersetzten Jugenderinnerungen 'Von Masuren an den Rhein'. 216 pp. Deutsch.
