This copy is signed directly to the title page and not via a book plate. This is a first printing of this issue. A publishing phenomenon and a bit of a bibliographical conundrum. My own understanding of the publishing history of this title is outlined below: The very scarce first edition, first printing seems to have been issued in very small numbers and was rapidly reprinted before the book was Booker long listed. When the book was issued as a soft back with french flaps, Waterstones issued their own soft back edition with bonus material. After many soft back reprints this Waterstones exclusive hardback edition was issued with the legend: The Booker Prize 2024 Shortlisted on the dust wrapper front panel. Copies of this issue appeared towards the end of 2024, about the time the book was announced as the 2024 Booker winner. Once again this issue was rapidly reprinted. At a later date a new exclusive Independent Bookshops hardback was issued in blue boards, almost identical to the original first edition but with a different ISBN number. This edition also seems to have been rapidly reprinted. Signed by Author(s).
