Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. First printing, near fine in a very good dust jacket. Fairly lengthy gift inscription dated 1975 on half title page. The jacket has neat tape repairs at spine ends, and a small razor cut near the top of the spine. $8.95 price on jacket flap; a tight, square copy of this large (495 pages) book.
Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Stephen King has said that three writers influenced him back in his aspiring novelist days: Richard Matheson, John D. MacDonald, and Don Robertson. So taken was King with Robertson's work that the first book he published under his Philtrum Press imprint that wasn't his own work was Robertson's "The Ideal, Genuine Man." More than a decade earlier, though, Arthur Fields Books, Inc. released Robertson's noteworthy PRAISE THE HUMAN SEASON (distributed by E.F. Dutton). This is an unread copy of the advance reading copy of that 1974 novel. There's a little ding taken out of the back cover, a tinier one in the front cover, some folds and wrinkles, and some slight staining of the massive page block, but for a 495-page book bound only in printed wrappers and more than 40 years old, it's in remarkable condition.
