Das reich mit Fotos und Originaldokumenten aus dem Nachlass von John Gersmann ausgestattete Buch beschreibt die spannende Lebensgeschichte des in Berlin geborenen und in Potsdam aufgewachsenen John Gersman (1911 - 2003), der als Jude vor den Nationalsozialisten in die USA fluchtete, von dort im Jahre 1945 als ausgebildeter ,Ritchie Boy" als Befreier in seine alte Heimat zuruckkehrte, dann aufgrund des Kalten Krieges lange Zeit nicht mehr in das von den Sowjets besetzte Potsdam kommen konnte und sich schliesslich nach der Wiedervereinigung finanziell fur die Sanierung des Judischen Friedhofes in Potsdam und die Erinnerung an die Potsdamer Holocaust-Opfer (darunter viele Mitglieder seiner Familie) engagierte.
