Malgré les nombreux textes et reliefs égyptiens nous informant sur la bataille de Qadesh, bien des incertitudes et des énigmes demeurent. Pourtant, les recherches sur ce sujet n'ont pas manqué. Celle qui est ici rééditée en sa langue allemande originale et en traduction française a été rédigée vers 1935 par un savant de 20 ans, Joseph Sturm, mort prématurément, avant même la publication de son étude. Elle n'est toutefois pas du tout périmée et, à cause des qualités exceptionnelles de son auteur, elle mérite d'être lue et relue, comme un "classique" de la recherche historique. Cet ouvrage sur la bataille de Qadesh et les guerres qui l'ont suivie a été écrit vers 1935 par Josef Sturm, disparu deux ans plus tard à l'âge de 24 ans. Cela dit, ce livre reste d'une valeur exceptionnelle malgré les nombreuses publications apparues par la suite.
