Not price clipped (13s 6d), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg+ copy for its age. 159pp. A novel set in 15th century Spain at the height of the Spanish Inquisition, in reality it is a powerful indictment of all totalitarian systems, by Polish author Jerzy Andrzeyevski (1909-83), who had experienced both the Nazi terror and the Communist regime in Poland. In Later life he was an ardent supporter of Poland's anti Communist Solidarity movement. Quite a scarce book.
