Containing descriptions of the twenty-five lots into which the estate is divided for the purposes of the sale ('The Estate, containing 1170a. 2r. 37p., will First be Offered in its Entirety, and if not Sold, then in the following Lots.'). Initial 'General Remarks' begin: 'The Abbey and Manor Farms have for the last half-century been occupied by the late Mr. HUGH AYLMER, who, with conspicuous success, established and maintained there his noted Herd of Shorthorn Cattle and Flock of Cotswold Sheep. | The Property is situate 4 miles from Downham Market on the G.E. Railway, 13 Miles from the Excellent Market Town and Port of King's Lynn, 12 from Swafham and Brandon, and Abbey Station on the Downham and Stoke Ferry Branch of the Great Eastern Railway is situate upon the Estate. | The Navigable River Wissey bounds the Estate on the South, giving water-carriage for Corn and other produce in addition to the Railway Facilities. | The Estate is renowned for its fine old Pasture Land, of which there is a large proportion, while the major portion of the Arable is exceptionally fine Corn and Root Land. Very good in the publisher's printed side-sewn wraps, with some dull soiling to the covers, and very shallow insect damage to the far margins of some pages; barely notable. Contents clean inter…nally. A highly visual sales catalogue, advertising the virtues of this massive powered lawn mower, whose benefits over its horse- or person-driven alternatives are described and shown in their full glory. The machine itself is described thusly: "It works upon the principle of the steam automobile, with gasoline for fuel [.] The boiler will sustain a thousand pounds pressure, and the safety valve will not allow it to retain more than 175 pounds." The illustrations appear to be high-quality drawings and mockups, showing the machine in a large landscaped environment, doing the work of many horses, getting into tight spaces, and in general doing work much more efficiently. At the end of the catalogue is an encouragement to contact the Philadelphia company with questions on pricing and ordering. We could not locate this nicely produced sales catalogue in OCLC, and presume it to be a rare survival. An excellent document of this early mechanized lawn mower, designed for large-scale operations.
