The poems concern the relationship/struggle between a Bay Area poet and his Jewish father from Arkansas who was a publicist, performer and playwright (he typed for O'Neill and assisted Sinclair Lewis on Elmer Gantry) The letters from the subject to his son concerning the poems are fascinating.
