The first fifteen volumes of plays from the Bankside Shakespeare, compiled and edited by the American scholar James Appleton Morgan, best known as Appleton Morgan (1845-1928), between 1888 and 1906. Morgan uses the texts which were given to the players, printed in parallel with the first revised folio text, the Heminges and Condell Text of 1623. Each volume includes enlightening critical introductions by various authors, who analyse the text and provide historical context for the development of each play.
