Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. Signed. 1 pages. Published in 1982. Rare Leonard Bernstein collectible piece. A vintage silver-gelatin print of the artist's formal portrait-photograph, signed and inscribed on recto by Leonard Bernstein. Originally produced as such by the Renaissance Man of modern classical music as a memento/souvenir/keepsake for a few selected friends, colleagues, and admirers. The print measures a full 8 X 10 inches. It is NOT a postcard- or "keepsake"-size, which the publisher also printed later. Printed on semi-glossy, archival stock paper in New York City to the highest standards. Enclosed in its own protective plastic sleeve. Eminently suitable for framing. Without DJ, as issued. Presents "Leonard Bernstein Portrait Photograph". A lovely remembrance from the composer/conductor/pianist/educator, who is now justifiably regarded as perhaps the greatest American musical figure of the 20th century. This is the prodigy who wrote "West Side Story", the greatest musical of the 20th century, among other masterpieces too numerous to mention here. "Maestro", the biopic on Bernstein, as controversial and fascinating a figure today as he was in his lifetime, appeared in 2023, with Bradley Cooper in the eponymous role. An absolute "must-have" collectible, not just memorabilia, piece for Leonard Bernstein collectors. This vintage silver-gelatin print is very boldly and beautifully signed and inscribed in black ink-pen on recto by the artist: "With best wishes, Leonard Bernstein". It is signed directly on the print itself, not on a tipped-in page. There is NO recipient named. However, this Souvenir/Keepsake comes from the estate of his close friend and professional colleague: The late Ronald Wilford (who is NOT named), Classical music's most important power broker of the mid- to late-20th century. It would not exist as a sustainable commercial enterprise today were it not for his pioneering work and example: Fifty years at Columbia Artists Management nurturing Who's Who musical geniuses that included James Levine, Seiji Ozawa, Mstislav Rostropovich, Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado, Kurt Masur, Sir Colin Davis, Riccardo Muti, Maurizio Pollini, Vladimir Horowitz, Kathleen Battle, Marilyn Horne, and of course, Leonard Bernstein. This is the only such signed and inscribed vintage print available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed original print thus. 1 vintage silver-gelatin print. One of the greatest cultural figures of the 20th century. A fine collectible print. Signed by Author.
