Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Photographs by Jon Wyand, Michael Freeman, Colin Maher, and Jean-Paul Ferrero. (illustrator). First edition. The uncommon first edition, first impression of this richly illustrated guide to the art of wine-making, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. The first edition, first impression of the work, with no further editions or impressions listed.Richly illustrated with vignettes of specially commissioned colour photographs by Jon Wyand, Michael Freeman, Colin Maher, and Jean-Paul Ferrero.Includes several maps of vineyards. With the original unclipped dust wrapper.Uncommon.This is an insightful guide to the art of making wine edited by Serena Sutcliffe, the head of Sotheby's wine department and one of the world's leading writers on wine. It contains chapters on Bordeaux, Rheingau, Tuscany, New South Wales, and California, detailing in each instance some aspects of the history of their wine trade, production methods typical of the region's vineyards, and the main characteristics of their wines. In the original publisher's full cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very excellent with just a touch of bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Wrapper is attractive with fading to the spine and rear top edge, and marginal edgewear. Internally, firmly bound with lovely, bright, clean pages. Pages 13r-14v have been excised, and pages 15r-16v are now inserted loosely where they would have originally appeared within the text. Very Good. book.
