Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 2nd Prtg. The story begins at the end - the demise of one of the most famous pirates - Captain Kidd. Believed to have been born into a strict Calvinist family around 1645, this Scotsman pirate grew up in Greenock, Scotland which was a port on the Firth of Clyde. It was no wonder he was drawn to a life on the sea. Little else is known until 1689 when his name first appears in the record books. From this time forward, Kidd built his reputation as a Carribean pirate. The author traces Kidd's exploits along with the impact pirating had on prevailing civil laws. The author further delves into the type of individual who became a pirate, how they lived and how they died. 306 pg; b/w illustrations; guide to abbreviations, notes and index. A very nice copy. Size: 8 Vo. Book.
