Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. ++ SIGNED by Pullman to the Title Page ++. Author's first book. American edition. +++ SEE PHOTO +++ Mustard yellow boards with white cloth quarter binding and gold titles to the spine. Top of dj slightly creased. No remainder stamps, previous owner inscriptions and not price clipped. Interestingly the US version seems to be far less common than the UK version but perhaps that is not surprising as this was his first published book. Whilst Pullman has won the Carnegie Medal, the Guardian Children's F iction Award, the Smarties Prize and Children's Book of the Year at the British Book Awards it was only the final instalment of the His Dark Materials trilogy (which went on to win the prestigious Whitbred Prize, being the first Children's book ever to do so) that seems to have garnered Pullman the popular acclaim he undoubtedly deserves. genuine signature - can send photo of signing.
