Illustrated with 25 two-colour pornographic illustrations in the text. Louis Pine-à-L'Envers was a pseudonym of the French poet and chansonnier Louis Protat (1819-1881), who is today chiefly remembered for his erotic writings. One of his best-known works is Serrefesse, first published in 1864. The book was later placed in the notorious Enfer ("Hell") collection of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the library's restricted section for prohibited an erotic literature.
