Along with "Faces" (1968), considered to be one of the groundbreaking director's most important films, an intense study on the themes of marriage, a woman's place in society and family, the modern working class, and sanity in the modern world. One of the first fifty films in the National Film Registry, Cassavetes' film was financed with his own money, distributed in art houses and on college campuses, and made Richard Dreyfuss vomit after viewing it, calling it "the most incredible, disturbing, scary, brilliant, dark, sad, depressing movie ever made." Nominated for two Academy Awards. Blue untitled front wrapper, lacking rear wrapper. Title page present, dated August 23, 1972, with a credit for screenwriter Cassavetes. 141 leaves, with last page of text numbered 139. Second generation Xerographic duplication as internally issued and used, with copied punch holes present. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Very Good, bound with three gold brads.
