Hardcover. Condition: Good. 4to (27x19.5 cm), 19th century brown half calf, spine nicely gilt in gold with title on blue label, boards covered with reddish paper (corners and edges worn), inside a clean, well-preserved copy. Engraved frontispiece, title within a cartouche held by two cherubs, with at top a coat-of-arms bearing the franciscan device, held by two angels, each with a small dragon beside it; the front. is signed at bottom "Alessandro Baratta Fec. 1627" (cfr. Thieme-Becker, Kunstlexicon II, 454), followed by 63 beautiful engraved plates (of which the first is signed by Francesco Palmiero) depicting the relevant moments and scenes of the saint's life, accompanied by captions with verses. Apparently second edition (the first in 1622) of this rare collection of plates. Giovanni Orlandi was a prolific engraver, also for maps, very active between Rome and Naples between the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century (cfr. Thieme-Becker XXVI, 47).
