Mühlenbruch (1785-1843) studied in Rostock, Greifswald, Göttingen and Heidelberg, received his doctorate there in 1805 and habilitated in Rostock in the same year. In 1815 he received a professorship in Greifswald, in 1818 he went to Königsberg and in 1819 to Halle. In 1833 he moved to Göttingen, where he worked until the end of his life. Mühlenbruch had initially written his textbook of Roman Law in Latin, the last of its kind: Doctrina pandectarum. He himself translated this textbook into German.The three-volume work follows Heise's system in five books. Mühlenbruch draws on the sources, but not on the common law tradition that existed until the end of the 18th century. The textbook was successful and also influential. The first edition of this textbook in German appeared between 1835 and 1837. After the third edition, Mühlenbruch objected to a mere reprint of the work before his death. The contract was awarded to Savigny's student and professor of law at Dorpat and Halle. C. F. Mühlenbruch (1785-1843) studierte in Rostock, Greifswald, Göttingen und Heidelberg, promovierte dort 1805 und habilitiert im gleichen Jahr in Rostock. 1815 erhielt er eine Professur in Greifswald, 1818 ging er nach Königsberg und 1819 nach Halle. 1833 wechselte er nach Göttingen, wo er bis zu seinem Lebensende wirkte. Mühlenbruch hatte sein Pandektenlehrbuch zunächst in lateinischer Sprache verfasst, die letzte seiner Art: Doctrina pandectarum. Er selbst übersetzte dieses Lehrbuch in die deutsche Sprache.Das dreibändige Werk folgt dem System von Heise. Mühlenbruch greift zwar auf die Quellen, nicht jedoch auf die gemeinrechtliche Tradition zurück, die bis Ende des 18. Jhdts. bestanden hat. Das Lehrbuch war erfolgreich und auch einflussreich. Das erste Erscheinen dieses Lehrbuches in deutscher Sprache erschien in den Jahren 1835 bis 1837. Nach der dritten Auflage widersprach Mühlenbruch noch vor seinem Tode einem bloßen Nachdruck des Werkes. Den Auftrag bekam nunmehr der Savigny-Schüler und Professor der Rechte zu Dorpat und Halle.

Vorsatz mit Ausschnitt, blasser alter St.a.T.). Über den Personenwechsel oder einer Personenmehrheit im Schuldverhältnis gibt die Zession Auskunft. Das Ius Romanum kannte die cessio, aber "die Cession gehört zu den wenigen civilistischen Hauptmaterien, denen eine selbständige Darstellung in den Quellen nicht zu Theil geworden ist", so Mühlenbruch in der Vorrede. Eine Reihe von Digestenstellen und vor allem die Codexstelle "De hereditate del actione vendita" bilden die Grundlage dieser Lehre. Eine umfassende monographische Darstellung legte jedoch erst Mühlenbruch vor. An der Codexstelle behandeln auch die meisten der Kommentatoren die Lehre von der Cession ab. Später, so Mühlenbruch, waren die gründlichsten Exegeten Cuiacius, Donellus, Giphanius und Antonius Faber. Im Bereich der rechtspraktischen Literatur - "die Cultur der Lehre blieb größtentheils den vorzugsweise s. g. Practikern überlassen" - ragten Joh. v. Sande, Alph. de Olea und auch der deutsche Jurist Joh. Brunnemann (1662), der nach Ansicht von Mühlenbruch aber nur compilatorisch gearbeitet habe, heraus. Daneben untersuchte und arbeitete Mühlenbruch auch die kleineren Schriften bis hin zu den Inaugural-Dissertationen ein. - Mühlenbruch (1785-1843) studierte in Rostock, Greifswald, Göttingen und Heidelberg, promovierte dort 1813 und habilitiert sich im gleichen Jahr in Rostock. 1815 erhielt er eine Professur in Greifswald, 1818 ging er nach Königsberg und 1819 nach Halle. 1833 wechselte er nach Göttingen, wo er bis zu seinem Lebensende wirkte. Mühlenbruch hat auch ein bedeutendes sein Pandektenlehrbuch verfasst.
