These "talks" first appeared in The Delineator under the pen-name Priscilla Wakefield. This book is a collection of 35 of those talks with the aim of self improvement. Ex-lib, but you can hardly tell - no exterior markings and only a library name stamp on title page. Blue cloth exterior with title in silver on front cover and spine plus a paste-down graphic of (presumably) an ideal modern girl reading a book. Interior is unmarked, tight and clean.

Nancy A.W. Priest (d. 1870 at age 33) was a New England poet of the Romantic period. This collection of her poems was posthumously published by her mother. This wa the only book publication of her work; the title poem was published in 1857 in the Springfield Rupublican newspaper was idely reprinted around the country.

This is the 1941 edition after the 1928 first edition. The binding of the book has minor corner and edge wear, but is in tight, square condition with a few very light spots on the binding. Binding is now protected in mylar. Interior is very clean, no previous owner's names or marks, except for a hand, pencil written, recipe at the end of the index. Mrs. Dull was the editor of the Home Economics page in the Atlanta Journal and cooking school instructor. The first edition and this 1941 edition have become fairly scarce.

A large propganda campaign was organized by Sidney and Beatrice Webb in support of the recommendations for prevention of destitution.
