This selection by Robert Solway of folk songs and verses related to NZ pioneer days was taken from Wright's book of the same name, published in Dunedin in 1897. That first edition extended over 140 pages while this selection from it is 64 pages, containing 36 items plus introduction, dedication, glossary of colonial words etc and index of first lines. Wright was notable wordsmith, poet and journalist in New Zealand and Australia, where he died in 1928. From 1897 to 1908 he was preacher associated with the Presbyterian Church, then working with respected journals on both sides of the Tasman. First edition in this form of 1945, 64 pages, b/w frontis photo portrait of David McKee Wright. Blue hard covers with black front titles VG with small damage area (1cm deep) at spine top, light fading to front cover vertical edge in from spine and along top edge, also top edge rear cover, which has two small dents (tie marks) vertical and lower edge. Internally excellent, no inscriptions. This smsll light book will be posted at cost.
