Dustjacket: price clipped. Soiling & fading to covers & spine. Chipping & wear to margins & corners. Tearing & creasing to back cover (see pictures). ; 31.2 x 23.5 x 3 cms; 212 pages; Felix H. Man (18931985) , born Hans Felix Sigismund Baumann in Freiburg, Germany, was a pioneering photojournalist and one of the key figures in the development of modern photo-reportage. Originally trained as a painter, he turned to photography after serving in World War I, quickly becoming known for his innovative and humanistic approach to documentary photography. Working for influential publications such as Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung and later Picture Post in Britain, Man helped to shape the visual language of photojournalism in the 1930s and 1940s. His images captured both the everyday and the extraordinary, blending artistic composition with journalistic immediacy. Forced to flee Nazi Germany due to his Jewish heritage, he settled in the UK and continued his career as both photographer and picture editor. Felix H. Man is remembered not only for his groundbreaking reportage but also for elevating photography to an art form, influencing generations of photojournalists to come.
