The hospital's training school for nurses was founded in 1877. "The Medical College attached to the Hospital is famous throughout the world, which means, from the Nurses' Training point of view, that every possible type of case and illness passes through the Hospital. . The Nursing Staff at present numbers 50 Sisters and 344 Nurses and Probationers. This does not include the 22 Pupil Probationers at the Preliminary Training School. Of the applicants for training, on an average 143 are accepted a year."
