Chipping and tearing along the bott…om edge of the covers, with scattered nicks along other edges. A previous owner's address label is affixed to the upper right corner of the front cover. The staple binding is intact and the interior pages are secure. Interior pages show small chips and tears along the edges and light overall toning; otherwise clean and unmarked.A wartime issue notable for its pictorial feature on Lt. Edward "Butch" O'Hare ("Ed O'Hare: 5 Jap Planes in 5 Minutes"), documenting the Navy's first ace of World War II just months after his February 20, 1942 engagement in which he single-handedly intercepted a Japanese bomber formation attacking the USS Lexington. O'Hare was awarded the Medal of Honor (the Navy's first of the war) by President Roosevelt on April 21, 1942, and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport was later named in his honor. Also includes Raymond Clapper's analysis of the Pacific war ("Do You Know Why We Are Fighting in Asia?"), a feature on the Burma Road supply line, a photo spread on the Chinese Air Force, and a Merchant Marine cover portrait by photographer Ed Wallowitch.
