Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. Tom McKeveney (Jacket Design) (illustrator). Sewn binding. Paper over boards. xii, 658, [2], p. Notes. Selected Bibliography. Index. Inscribed by author on fep. DJ has slight wear and soiling. John Joseph Loftus (February 12, 1950) is an American author, former US government prosecutor and former Army intelligence officer. He is a president of The Intelligence Summit. Loftus also serves on the Board of Advisers to Public Information Research. He served in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1974. He began working for the US Department of Justice in 1977 and in 1979 joined their Office of Special Investigations, which was charged with prosecuting and deporting Nazi war criminals in the US. Loftus' first book, The Belarus Secret, is nonfiction and was adapted into a TV-film, Kojak: The Belarus File (1985), with Telly Savalas. Loftus serves as a media commentator, appearing regularly on ABC National Radio and Fox News. He also writes regularly for Ami, an Orthodox Jewish weekly newsmagazine. Derived from a Kirkus review: An alternative, conspiratorial retelling of major events of the last 75 years. Former Justice Department Nazi-hunter Loftus and Australian journalist Aarons are convincing in arguing that the underlying motivations for most of the evil plots they describe were fanatical anti- communism and/or greed. Thus wealthy Americans invested in prewar Nazi Germany because there was money to be made, and Nazis were welcomed to postwar America as fighters against communism. T; the State Department and American boardrooms were filled with Arabists who had no sympathy for a Jewish state because it was empty of oil. Little hard evidence is presented. Like all good conspiracy books, this one offers plausible and intriguing explanations for gray areas of history. The book is enlivened by a rogues' gallery, including double agents, Kim Philby; and Allen Dulles, accused of subverting American foreign policy to their greed. A conspiracy book offering tasty morsels. First Edition [stated]. First Printing [Stated].
