The author of this title, Cornelius Cornelii a Lapide (né Cornelis Cornelissen van den Steen; 1567-1637) was a Flemish Jesuit & exegete. Cornelius a Lapide wrote ample commentaries on all the books of the Catholic Canon of Scripture, with the exception only of the Book of Job & the Psalms. This magnificent large folio-size example of early letterpress printing is from a substantial collection of material which was only recently unearthed in Budapest. These pages sat dormant for over 300 years, concealed in a Hungarian cellar. They survived multiple wars & decades of communist rule, in which countless books were destroyed.
